Shopping: Super One, Duluth MN

Chitterlings? In a Duluth grocery store?

Restaurant: Hell's Kitchen, Duluth MN

Happy hour review: Great atmosphere; bad parking. Unique appetizers where they understand "spicy". Excellent customer service. Get the devilled eggs with horseradish. $

Restaurant: Little Angie's Cantina, Duluth MN

Bar-only (hoppin' spot) review. Ironically BAD icky-sweet fruity marg mix. Excellent happy hour drink prices. Interesting infused spirits, including vodka with peppers, cilantro, green onion and lime (for bloody marys, but we tried a delicious sip). $

Restaurant: D'Amico & Sons, Golden Valley MN

Who can argue with bottomless wine? Since they make you order food with it, it's a good thing the food's delicious. Great salad sampler. $$

Drink: Tamek Sour Cherry Nectar

This Turkish product comes in large containers or in 12-oz. cans. Delicious by itself (chilled) but it makes great cocktails. I tried mixing it with añejo tequila and it seemed a marriage made in heaven.

Concert: György Kurtág in New York

The 82-year-old composer was in the United States for his first visit. He's best known for Messages of the Late Miss R.V. Troussova (1976-80) for chamber ensemble and soprano, here the piercing Natalia Zagorinskaya. Two packed Zankel Hall evenings ended with the composer playing some of his own music (plus Bach and Bartók) with his wife, Márta, sitting side by side at an upright piano.
